There is really just one trick. You need a flat screwdriver to open the clip on the windshield arm as seen in the above picture.
There are many windshield wiper products out there. On my 2009 highlander, you don't have to replace the whole windshield arm. You can just buy the blades itself at about $7.00 plus tax at your local Toyota dealer. There are two pieces. One for the passenger side (short) and the other for driver side (long).
